Suffolk has a large choice of pubs and inns in which
to stay some with delightfully eccentric names. There are old
smuggler ale houses, brick, flint and thatched ones. Some with
stunning views over sea or marsh, or quaint harbour settings. At
the heart of a village or town, with old-world charm, roses round the
door and four poster beds. Where you are lulled to sleep by the crash of
a wave, the hoot of an owl or the still of the night. Some are even said
to be haunted or where famous people have stayed. Winter days
where you can watch the clouds ferry the October light across the sky
and the light dazzling on the beach where evenings are soft and hushed
almost as if they were listening for something. Roaring log fires and
Suffolk brews, bar and restaurant menus, many incorporating locally
caught seafood and game. Where a warm Suffolk welcome is
guaranteed. |
