Occupying 400 acres of salt marsh Cley next the Sea Nature Reserve is a bird reserve of international importance. Cley Marshes has a block of reed beds lagoons and pools, good for watching birds and other marshland specialities.  With over 330 different species of birds having been recorded, such as avocet, bittern, common tern and marsh harriers. Also Brent geese, widgeon, teal and mallard who all winter on the reserve in great numbers. Panoramic views of the reserve can be seen from the Visitor Centre which has a variety of Trust goods for sale as well as displays and information. In spring and autumn many migrating waders come to the pools at Cley. 

The path along the east bank has been called the most famous birdwalk in Britain. The pools are all within easy view of the hides.
