Lying
at the heart of rural East Anglia and with one of the most complete
medieval street patterns in England, the cathedral city of Norwich
effortlessly blends the old with the new.
Dominating its skyline is the graceful gleaming spire of Norwich Cathedral. Begun in 1066 it is made from white Caen stone shipped all the way from France. Twisted cobbled alleyways, lined with interesting shops and eateries are complimented by a large up to-date and for the most part pedestrianised shopping precinct. Including the famous indoor Castle Mall, with its elegant glass and iron roof. In the centre of the city, a colourful lively open air market nestles in the shadow of a Norman Castle, once a place of public executions but now a museum. A timeless quality pervades Norwich with its riverside walks and famous historical personalities such as Elizabeth Fry, Edith Cavell and Robert Kett. Throughout the year there is plenty of live entertainment and cultural events with theatres, museums and art galleries a plenty. A wide and diverse ranges of eateries from modern
to classical cuisine make dinning out in Norwich a pleasurable experience,
for all tastes, appetites and pockets. |
