| A Potted early history of East Dereham. - In 654AD the daughter of the Anglo-Saxon King Anna, Princess Withburga who set up a religious community. - Danish raiders in 870 laid waste to the church and most of the town. - The Black Death claimed many lives in 1646. - Fire swept the town in 1581 and 1659, which resulted in the Georgian houses you see here today. | ||||
