Sheltering in the shadow of a Jacobean Hall is the small village of Blickling, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside with thickly wooded valleys.

As you drive, cycle or walk you enter old hollow ways of green cool tunnels burrowing between high banks of earth and leafy lanes. Fields and hedges and shapely woods form a gigantic counterpane around this area.

A walk in ancient woods in May brings you into clearings awash with bluebells, which give off not only their own distinct perfume but also envelop you in a powder blue wonderland, which is breathtakingly beautiful.

The tiny village has a smattering of pretty cottages. As well as a good watering hole where there is every incentive to stop for a meal or just a glass of something. We understand that the inn in question is supposed to be haunted but we have yet to receive details or confirmation of this statement.

Fishermen come to display their patience on the banks of the large lake at Blickling in the care of the National Trust.

The market town of Aylsham with all its amenities is under 2 miles down the road.
