A Registered Charity

Introduction On April the 1st 2006 the last remaining Jaguars left RAF Coltishall, marking the end of an era for a station that made a considerable contribution to the defense of the realm, and significantly added to Norfolks military history.

After its closure the cupboard doors were thrown open, drawers were emptied, and dust was blown from the tops of boxes that had laid dormant for years, the contents being carefully examined and recorded.

The RAF Coltishall Memorial Room, opened in Autumn 2006. It contains previously unseen treasures that formerly were only seen by those who served at the RAF base. An evocative collection of photographs, trophies, memorials and artifacts, which chart the history and celebrate the former airbase. Poignant images both old and new are contained in large albums and decorate the walls, others are displayed on automatic scrolling monitors.

Gaze at "Baders Bunny" the mascot that once graced the MG dashboard of Britain's most celebrated second world war hero Sir Douglas Bader. Admire the artistry of hand painted aircraft panels and see a genuine "bone of contention"! Additional archive material is also available for research by prior appointment or upon request. The memorial room will ensure that the spirit of RAF Coltishall will live on forever.
