Hickling Broad covers more than 141 hectares 370 acres of open water and an approximate average depth of 1.3m.

Owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Hickling Broad is an important National Nature Reserve. It is the largest broad reached from the River Thurne through Deep Dyke, White Slea, Candle Dyke, Heigham Sound.

There are nature trails and a visitor centre also a water trail boat trip during the summer months. Used by the local sailing club and windsurfers. Home to Britain's largest and most striking butterfly the swallowtail.
